I went with my daughters to see the remake of The Lion King. I am still unsure how I feel about what Disney are doing with all these remakes. I was ok with the recreation of the animals, but felt that it was too faithful to the original in regards to storyline. More real than real maybe. Although there may have been some attempt to reimagine the roles, I don’t think it was creative enough.
I went in the summer with my daughters to see The Lion King remake. I guess it was fine, but it had very little “charm,” and something was lost in the translation from cel-based animation to CGI. The kids seemed to like it enough – albeit not as enthusuastically as other films we’d watched around then – but I was bored throughout. Maybe because I’ve seen the original so often? I spent most of my time looking for the differences in scenes and dialogue because I just couldn’t connect fully with the film on any level.
