I cannot help be reminded of Julie Beck’s discussion of reading and the suggestion that unless we do something with it within 24-hours then it often disappears. I am also reminded of Joel Speranza’s entry/exit form for managing blended learning.
π Giving time for students to think β using learning logs to guide student reflection
I decided to prototype learning logs with my Year 7 mathematics and science class. We dedicated 50 minutes every week where we stopped βpushing through the curriculumβ and wrote learning reflections. We used theΒ learning log Google Slides templateΒ from the NSW Department of Education.
Alice Leung discussed her use of learning logs once a week. She explained how she would start the session with a brainstorm and then get students to work on reflecting upon the learning and goals. Some of the challenges were accounting for the time and providing more guidance in regards to focusing on learning strategies.
