Day 1
A song with a colour in its title: Black Celebration by Depeche Mode. Recognise that it is a ‘shade’, but don’t care!
Day 2
A song I like with a number in it: O.N.E. by Yeasayer. In my view it is the best ‘One’, although U2’s is pretty close second IMHO
Day 3
A song that reminds me of summer: Streets of Your Town by The Go-Betweens. I think it is the light and jangly nature of the guitars that makes me think summer.
Day 4
A song reminding me of someone I’d rather forget: Jai Ho! by Pussy Cat Dolls. Not a fan of the song, not a fan of Pussy Cat Dolls and not a fan of the students who used to remind me of this by repeating the hook ad nauseum to annoy me.
Day 5
A song that needs to be played loud: Touched by VAST. You do not capture all the dynamics listening to it quietly.
Day 6
A song that makes you dance: How Will I Know – Whitney Houston. My mum bought this album when the CD player arrived in our house in the late 80’s. It has therefore become part of my DNA. (I Wanna Dance w/ Somebody is pretty danceable too, esp at weddings)
Day 7
A song to drive to: Robot Rock – Daft Punk. It just has a relentless beat and presence.
Day 8
A song about drugs and alcohol: The Drugs Don’t Work – The Verve
Day 9
A song that makes me happy: Happy – Pharrell, especially the 24 hour video that was created in association with the song
Day 10
A song that makes me sad: Apart – The Cure. Not sure if this is a song that is sad or makes me sad. Sad none the less.
